Tionne was nominated as “Rising Star of Year” by The Los Angeles Black Music Awards. 2007 proved to be a break year for the talented young man, co-starring in his latest flick “Holla” released by Lionsgate, an urban horror comedy that Movie Guide called “Viciously Hilarious” and is currently available on DVD. Eventually his work paid off again with the opportunity to capture the attention of Producer, Tyler Perry. Although Tionne was solidly building his acting credits, he invariably found himself returning to his first love, Music. Tionne is currently in the studio working on his debut solo Pop/R&B album with super producer, Jason Edmonds (Whitney Houston, Babyface, Tyrese, Ruben Studdard, Boyz II Men, etc.). In addition to providing mesmerizing entertainment, the goal of Tionne’s music is to give his audience an understanding of both his dynamic musical instrument and his rich musical history, and he is steadily building the foundation to a very successful career. Back off his first two major label debut singles “Take U There” and “Dance Like That” ETCETERA has returned, revamped and is ready to premier his latest master piece…, O.M.G. (Throw Ya Hands Up) off the TSOB/Federal/ Universal Music Group label. The Sound of Brooklyn (TSOB) Records home to the artist/song writer continues to mold and provide the platform for ETCETERA to bring his exceptional creations to his fans and piers worldwide. John Custer began his career as a studio session guitarist. By age 23, Custer was providing guitar tracks for the #1 scoring house in America, New York's Vision Sound Studios. Custer played guitar on National Television Ads for VH-1, Ford, Jovan, Mazda, Revlon, and Coca-Cola. At age 25, Custer returned home to Raleigh, North Carolina to produce and develop original artists. Punk-metal crossover giants, Corrosion Of Conformity hired Custer to produce their first major label disc, 'Blind' in 1991. The disc was hailed as an instant classic. . CREEM magazine writers chose Blind as "One of the top 25 most influential metal recordings of the last 25 years". MSN's Ed Rivadavia wrote, "The album's fiercest moment, "Vote With A Bullet" is a sonic precedent for the countless aggro-metal bands (Korn, Fear Factory, Limp Bizkit, etc.) which dominated the late '90s. Years ahead of its time, BLIND is simply one of the most important heavy rock albums of the decade." SPIN magazine raved,"Combining the heavy groove of the 70's with the hardcore political stance of the 80's, COC has set the metallic standard for this decade." The success of 'Blind' brought the attention of Columbia Records, who signed COC in 1993. Custer produced COC over the next 18 years. In that time, they received a Grammy nomination in '97 for the single, "Drowning In a Daydream," and two COC tracks appeared in major motion pictures CLERKS and THE FAN. By 1992, Custer landed two major label deals for Raleigh bands he'd been developing since 1989. Cry of Love, and Custer's own funk creation, Dag, both signed to Columbia Records on the strength of Custer-produced demos. Cry Of Love's first Columbia single, "Peace Pipe" went to #1 on Billboard's Rock Radio charts. It remained at #1 as the most requested song in the nation for an entire month, and was the 5th most played song of that year. The next single "Bad Thing", which Custer co-wrote with the band, went to #2 in Billboard. Funk band Dag was Custe

Information about International Artists from around the world, their music, and news about the music business, for major and independent labels.
Internet technology allows independent artists to introduce their music to a potentially enormous audience at low cost without necessarily affiliating with a major recording label. Thanks to the falling cost of technology, independent film companies can obtain the resources they need to produce entertaining films at a fraction of the cost of the big Hollywood studios. The Pros and Cons of Major Label VS Independent
Paul Thorn was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and raised among the same spirits (and some of the actual people) who nurtured a young Elvis generations before, Thorn has rambled down back roads and jumped out of airplanes, worked for years in a furniture factory, battled four-time world champion boxer Roberto Durán on national television, signed with and been dropped by a major label, opened for Bonnie Raitt, Mark Knopfler, and John Prine among many other headliners, and made some of the most emotionally restless yet fully accessible music of our time. I saw Paul at The Biscuit this year and immediately knew I wanted him to sit on The Couch and he will be doing so. We will hear some of the fantastic music off of his newest album "Pimps & Preachers". Then Kelly Richey will join me. Kelly has been described as “Stevie Ray Vaughan trapped in a woman’s body with Janis Joplin screaming to get out.” She has also taken the time and become a True Purpose Coach, Dream Coach, Health and Wellness Coach, assisting people in finding their way in this world. We will talk with Kelly about her music, the record label she started and her newest passion, coaching others.

Q&A with Tom Silverman, CEO of Tommy Boy Records Kelli Richards, CEO of the interviews Tom Silverman, CEO of Tommy Boy Records. In the course of 30 years in popular music, Tommy Boy founder Tom Silverman created a striking success story for himself and his company. In the process Tommy Boy has earned gold and platinum albums by such artists as Everlast, Queen Latifah, Coolio, Naughty By Nature, De La Soul and House of Pain, and has been Billboard Magazine’s #1 dance label for 6 years in a row. In addition to great records and artists, Silverman’s innovative ideas about packaging, marketing and distribution helped separate Tommy Boy from the pack. In 1981 he created the original New Music Seminar as grassroots music industry gathering for disenfranchised music business upstarts. From humble beginnings New Music Seminar became the biggest and most important convention in the music industry; its combination of panels, workshops and live showcases became the industry model. In todays music industry, the independent artists have the power to become his own force by being his own label. Even though the major labels control the music industry, the music industry stays afloat due to the independent artists. However by keeping the music industry afloat, some of the independent artists lack knowledge on what it takes to operate a legitimate and consistent label. What are the basis of a record label? What are the key positions that are needed in forming a label? Is it necessary to call yourself a C.E.O. and you are an artist, and you DO NOT have anyone working under you? What are the estimate start up cost in starting a label? What is the proper process of making you label legitimate? Can you sign an artist under a simple contract? And lastly whats in a name? (your labels name) why making the right choice in a label name can make or break you.

Lava lamps, Happy Days, mood rings, MASH, and Jimmy Carter’s Playboy interview weren’t the only things to come out of the ’70s. In addition, copyright law was revised by the U.S. government granting artists and songwriters “termination rights.” This law states that 35 years after 1978 the recordings and songs “owned” by record labels or publishers would revert back to the artist or songwriter regardless of if the artist or songwriter was recouped, un-recouped, etc. What does this mean for Major Recording companies? How will this effect the families of deceased artists and songwriters? How will this benefit emerging artists? Let Your Voice Be Heard! 718-508-9972

Described by Billboard Magazine as "soulful" and "calming", Oak and Gorski are an acoustic duo composed of Ed Gorski and Ken Oak. Commonly billed as a cello rock act, they consistently captivate audiences with their unique combination of cello and acoustic guitar providing a minimalist backdrop for deceptively sincere songwriting. They have been included on the soundtrack to major motion picture Shes The Man, completed five national tours and produced two albums under their own label, Cello Rock Records. With Eds luscious strumming on rhythm guitar working in harmony with the deep, stirring chords Ken pulls from the cello, their sound communicates directly to the heart of the audience.
